i never use more than 1/8 " of any filler anytime , went out today thought i would shoot a little paint on the patch panel just to see what it looked like , well due to the cold it looks like dung not because of the patch but due to the cold . see what i mean . may have to wait till warmer weather to paint . as always commits and suggestions welcome .

couldn't do any thing with that paint , so off it comes . the pink in the top is where gmc was . sunday it's 55 till then the paint stays in the house . might heat up the tailgate with a torch(lightly) before painting . any ideas ?

yeah its a good idea to paint in atleast 60 degree weather... and have the paint and the metal to be the same temp... if not the paint may not stick right and it will come and chip easily

got it repainted today pictures 1&3 are taken from the ends the number 2 is where the old handle was . notice 2 spots in the paint , but that will have to wait till spring . will take some tomorrow with it on the truck . commits and suggestions welcome .

here it is on the truck , will redo the inside in the spring , showing the rear bumper that i'am going to replace with a homemade roll pan made by me in the spring . money i got in it maybe $ 10.00 money saved $ 45.00 and up time i spent in garage building it priceless !!
