I know the diesels came with two and I love having two in my Silverado. Came in handy a bunch of times!

It does HAVE two but they are not wired in parrallel, the second one just has a charge wire from the alternator and is strictly used for the trailer supply (special trailer package) Kinda silly BUT came in handy one time when the main battery melted down, was able to swap the auxillary one over and drive home....

Huh, I didnt know that. Thanks!

On my Silverado, the batteries are in parallel. I can disconnect either one and the truck will start. Comes in real handy when I need to jump start a car, no chance my truck will stall and not restart. Thats the reason I want it for my Suburban. I try to be prepared for everything.

scavanger has a spectacular aura aboutscavanger has a spectacular aura about
Yrs ago when I ran a service station, I had a costumer with a camper on his pickup. He would go fishing, at night turn the tv on and fall asleep. In the morning his battery was dead .
I installed a second battery for him using battery cable and a ford type starter solenoid between the two batterys. I hooked the solenoid coil in with the ignition.
I hooked his camper to the second battery. This kept the second battery isolated when ignition was off but was in the charging and cranking circuit. If for some reason the main battery went dead you could turn ignition on and jump the connecting solenoid from the second battery to be able to start the pickup. You only needed to momentarily jump the solenoid the ignition will hold it.

Thats a great idea! And I believe that is what this kit does. The two batteries dont actually come online unless the second one is needed. Otherwise, just the one is used.
