Was it a problem pulling it apart? did you have to cut it open? she would also need to know this.
can you post a picture of the bulb? and where it goes, I think it would help explain to her what she needs to do

I have the same cubby hole and every time i hit the gas cell and anything else slings out in the floor. The kids got me a pad that sticks to the plastic in the cubby and it KEEPS most anything from slipping out if it stops working you just wash it off made the hole useful. As for the lights after we put the after market radio in every once in a while my a/c control lights wont light up and they r right a simple slap ON THE SIDE of the dash and they are right back on. Not the proper way but it works. PS GOT THE PAD AT WALMART

this is what alldata says for the 97 model year:


Control Assembly Lamp Bulb

Remove or Disconnect

  1. Control assembly.
    • Pull the heater control assembly out far enough to reach the control assembly lamp socket.
  1. Bulb and socket.
  2. Bulb from socket.
    • Pull the bulb straight out from the socket.
Inspect
  • Control assembly lamp socket for corrosion and damage. Clean or replace as necessary.
  • Wires for damage and secure connection to the bulb socket. Repair or replace as necessary.
Install or Connect
  1. New bulb.
    • Push the bulb straight into the socket.
  1. Bulb and socket.
  2. Control assembly.
    • Check circuit operation

She has a 94, with a sealed back and just a plug for wires
redlineps has his apart but can't find the bulbs (PR70)
