Traction Problems

I am a new member to this forum. I have a 2005 GMC 2500HD 2WD D/A Sierra that I'm having a problem with. I tow a 7500 lb camper and have experienced this problem with towing the camper and while not towing the camper. The problem is traction. Live in the sunny South so I do not have a snow problem. The problem is wet grass and loose gravel. It just can't get traction to move. I still have the street tires that came on the truck. I've considered:
AT or MS tires. Also considering buying "traction mats" to carry with me in case I can not get traction.
Has anyone had any success with traction mats or can anyone recommend a good traction tire?
Thanks
GMCPapa

I had the same problem with my big block 2 wheel drive..... it bites getting stuck on a flat lawn after washing your truck huh? anyway, I ran a set of cooper discoverer st's and a set of bfg a/ts and had good luck with both.... if snow or mud isn't common, then I'd go with an at.... they'll last longer... and can cost a little bit less...

oh, and welcome to the forum, hope you stay a while
