| use turn signals and hazard flashers come on? Heres another weird issue that i have fellas, when i hit the right turn signal my hazard flashers come on on all four outer lights. when i use the left signal it works ok outside the truck but the indicator on the dash shows that the hazards are on. on the inside of the truck left or right turn signal, the hazard flashes thanks brothers much appreciated!!!!! |

| Hotboy I'm a little confused by the description, maybe you can clarify. How close is this? 1) No brake pedal,no haz,no turn = all lamps in and outside normal off. 2) No brake pedal,no haz, left sig = Ft/Rr outside ok, L+R dash blink 3) No brake pedal,no haz, right sig = 4way outside blink, L+R dash blink 4) No brake pedal, haz on, no sig = didn't say 5) brake pedal pushed, no haz, no sig = didn't say 6) Brake pushed, haz on, right sig, left hand sig (with glove) = didn't say OK, don't really expect that last one Partly why I ask, is that I believe the dash blinkers and the front lamps are spliced together at the plug for the turn switch. That would mean they would show the same problems even though the rear differs. It sounds to me like metal inside the turn switch has broken loose and is shorting contacts inside it. You could do more in the way of trouble shooting, but I think you need a new turn switch. Seems like you should have noticed a problem with the stop lamps, but idk. These may help if you go digging... ![]() ![]() |

| A certain amount of delay is normal in any conversation on a forum. I think all those 73 to 87's had much the same set up. Key thing is whether the haz button is part of the turn switch combo. If your truck is set up like the drawing, the fronts should blink EXACTLY like the dash. That's because they are tied together inside the switch. The rears may behave differently. If this IS your setup, then it seems to me that the contact at the Haz switch has slipped and is shorting L & R fronts together, and sometimes the rears get connected. Two choices: if you're lucky and good at puzzles you could disassemble and try to fix Haz part of switch. Or just buy a new combo turn / haz switch. LMC Truck Parts says Part # 36-0616 TURN SIGNAL SWITCH $39.95 Each Site you may want to use for ref: LMC Truck Parts - Page 1 Page with parts: LMC Truck Parts - Page 161 They'll send you a free catalog or you can read on line for free. Others sites or local may be better to buy from. |

| Now I'm more convinced that your problem is the contact from the flasher switch has come free and is shorting the contacts for the turn signals. See the top of the drawing in post#2 ? That Haz bar is shorting to the left and right (lt blu and dk blu), just luck it is not hitting rear brakes (black) also. BTW the real brake wire is white not black. Like I said earlier, try to take apart - if you get lucky you can fix. Most likely you need to replace the switch. If you can live without Haz and money is too tight, take apart and remove that shorting bar. It's only for Haz and your problem should go away. Until you need the Haz of course. | Actually you may be able to sneak the haz part out without replacing the turn. Get a parts blow up from a local store or dealer to check. Still the problem. |
