| power steering hey i have a 1989 gmc 2500 extended cab and with an eight foot bed. it does have four wheel drive. so ive got this problem of where i put it a new powersteering pump twice and and it seems as if whenever i put it into 4 wheel drive it blows out. recently ive found out that the person before me left it in 4 wheel drive all the time and when the powersteering went out he just sold it to me . if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated![]() |

| Welcome to the forum sounds like parts in the steering system are seizing up(probably no grease) and overloading the assist system. This is assuming stock tires, etc You may want to check to cooler for the power steering

| can you tell if any of the hoses are new or not that could be your problem they are bad and making the fluid come out under power load.
