The Fuel gauge is all over the place in a 2002 GMC duramax diesel 6.6
What is the cause

And the passenger side window motor sounds like a broken starter and the window doesnt move

fuel gauge problem sounds like you have something grounding out. the window problem might be stripped gears. best way to diagnose this is to break into the door panel and investigate further.

the fuel gauge wire had lost some of its insulation rubbing on the body and the windows cable had snapped

I have a 2002 Silvy and the window regulator takes less then an hour to replace from start to finish all tools and the new part in hand.

I had NEVER done this before and it took under 40 minutes(I had the panel off all ready) back together and working panel back on etc.
