Dual exhaust system

95 GMC 1500 5.7 EFI - Im about to call a shop in town for a quote. I was wonder if I can have put on a true dual exhaust on this without the use of a catalytic coverter? or will it mess something up not running a cat?

Do you need the cat for state inspection?

keep the cat, unless you plan on getting the sensors tuned out of the computer.

I dont know about inspection because im not getting one or anything. But I do know the weld is rusted off of the cat and the piping after it is just hanging in place. Basically I want to get MUCH better flow while replacing my bad piping and possibly the cat. When this thing goes up steep hills, it has NO power whatsoever and I cant stand it. Im afraid if I try to push it up the hills too hard itll mess it up.

What would I require to tune out the sensors and how much would it run me? Im trying to measure up the cost of doing that against the cost of replacing my whole exhaust (cat & piping kit, cat-back dual kit) which would be $596 from Jegs for what I prefer.

Can a Cat Back system be used with headers? full-length?

Do both headers need the hole in them?
