Bed Swap

I think I have seen the post on here before, but didn't write the title down, but here it goes: I want to know if I can switch a flare side with a reg side bed on a 1993 GMC 4wd extended cab, and how much work is involved. Thanks.

Yes it can be done but to start with the back bumper is different.

i think there is 6 bolts and you can get to them under the bed, not to hard just make sure to take off any bonding straps and disconnect the fuel filler neck and two guys can move it off and the new one on. how many miles do you have and while you have it off you might want to think about doing the fuel pump, on my 94 1500 it went out about 200k miles with no warning, just an idea and its cheap

Great Advice Cajun C. I would certainly consider a new fuel pump just because. All kinds of neat stuff you will find to do much easier with the bed off. Take advantage of it.

don't forget to remove and unplug the tail lights. other than that it really is a 10 minute job to remove the bed

I know that the rear axles for the 1990's step sides are different than the regular bed......... I was going to swap my rear axle out with a different one from a regular side bed, and the axle was different
