Mudman88 will become famous soon enoughMudman88 will become famous soon enough
So many questions...Where do i begin?

Here is my truck..A 1989 GMC K1500 with a 700R4 from an 83 K10 and a rebuilt 350...

I have a few projects i want to accomplish on it this summer, including painting it, im thinking charcoal grey over a black lower panel...
I painted the rims black, and cut out the rust on the back panels. Its sitting on 32 inch BF Goodrich all terain TA's...
I also want to fix a few cracks in the frame, none major but cracks either way...ALso add some new door skins, new cab corners and new running boards...But im not made of tons of money...So is there anything I can make out of sheet metal or anything that would work to replace these parts?I think i can for sure make my own cab corners, but i dont know about the others..
I also have a new front quarter panel to replace the rusted out one...
So far i have replaced the front drive axels, the MAP sensor, brake lines, as well as a few minor parts...
Tell me what you think guys!

Nice start for a cool project. I have a leather bag full of lead shot and I use normally 18 gauge steel to make small body pieces. You lay the metal on the bag and using different shape mallets, you can pretty much make the small pieces such as cab corners. It takes a little practice. LMC truck is a cheap resource for body parts too. I really like building what I can of my parts. Don't know about running boards as I don't like them except for the factory ones like on my 53 chevy pickup. Door skins and running boards is something I would recommend buying from a company that sells them. LMC is really reasonable. Welcome to the forum , keep us updated on progress. There is a lot of knowledge here and any questions you have. I'm sure someone here can answer or lead you in the right direction.

the body work on ur own may be a pain it will save u time and supplies to buy from lmc or jc whittney when u go to weld the panels in make sure and just tack weld the whole thing little by little trust mt it will worp after about 5 tacks cool it with air gun make sure an tack a few inches apart each time and when filling start with a fiberglass putty it takes longer to sand but is stronger

Welcome to the site Mudman !!! So what are all the questions??? Cool Project to start with. I am still looking for a straight axle 4x4 Project. I hope I don't find it soon though. I do not have tons of money either, so if I find a steal that I want and don't have the funds, I'd be crushed, so NO, I am not looking very hard in fear of finding it. Good Luck to you with yours.

Thats a sweet project and daily driver. I would do most of the body work myself and get some bondo and work on it a little every weekend, till its done.
