Cowl hood

What is the purpose of having a cowl hood?

gives heat another place to go outside of the engine bay. also makes the hood of the truck look good. if you are asking if they do anything performance wise, than my answer would have to be no.

Cool

Aerodynamics and extra room for top of the engine carbs and or air intakes..Plus they look wicked cool..

Back in the day the cowl hood had an inlet on it for air to enter the carb. There is an area of high pressure at the cowl so it is a good place to draw in cool air.

If you are willing to do some backyard engineering, you can make one of the aftermarket cowl hoods functional as well.

Say buddy I want to first welcome you to the forum and howdy from TEXAS. I seen a cowl hood yesterday on a Ford SUV it looked wicked. I was looking at the cowls on Ebay last week I need to get my hood painted so I just might have a cowl added to my hood.
