It is possible something else other that the oil caused it, beats me really. not putting mobil down i`m sure its at the top of the premium oils list! people use what they use! I`d try some royal purple but its twice as expensive as the castrol syntec i run and i think thats expensive enough!!

Did it go in looking funny? when i dropped my oil the first time after using Mobile1, It looked really funny. When I was at Mine Expo in Vegas this last year, I asked the mobile1 representative about it...... they said that the base oils they use are a natural cleansing agent(the don't add detergents)...... It may be that the red was something that the oil cleaned out.
But, Castrol does make a good product, and if it's in your price range, It'll work...........

takes 10 gallons to change a big truck. nowadays, it runs 150 to do an oil change.

the one in a picture is a Caterpillar 797..... It runs 2 motors paired to the hydrolic pump....I belive all in all they hold 70 someodd gallons(I saw this size on a tour of Kennecot Copper Mine)........ At the one I work at, We run 777's...... They all take 44 gallons of engine oil, as well, we have 5 D11 Cat dozers that all take 32 gallons, and 4 drills, taking 28, and 32 gallons.............. we also have 2 water trucks, 2backhoes, 2 loaders a shovel running two gigantic cummins motors,

bm83 will become famous soon enough
I have used Wal-mart brand (supertech) full synthetic oil for years with great success. It is about half the price of the others and I have read that it has additives similar to mobil 1. I have no way of knowing that for sure but it hasnt done me wrong and it is very available darn near anywhere.

Mobil1 <-------- Never castrol. I'm no chemist, but during my many years of drag racing and RoadRacing, I've seen plenty of moderately modded small blocks live happy lives at the track on M1 and i've also seen a lot that didn't even though they were not overbuilt... coincidently.. they almost all were Castrol deciples.

I'm referring to a close group of my friends .. we all had the same basic engine builds and mods, the only real solid differences were the oils used and a surprising coinsiding failure rate with the castrol guys.

Just my personal observation, for what it's worth.

Sorry but Royal Purple is made with Mineral oil. Its also earth friendly. Check the MSDS. Its not toxic until used in a motor.

Mobile 1 and Castrol is all i've ever used. Never had a problem. Always been a firm believer of stick with the original oil from start.

doesn't the "W" mean the weight of the oil?? I also thought "Delo" was made by mobil 1 for diesel motors? I used Quaker State, Valvoline, Castrol for years no problem-all dino oil, use mobil 1 for syn oil but going to try QS Horsepower Syn next change on 03 chevy. all the same as far as your car is concerned if they meet specs of company (ie GM) I personally don't like parrafin based pensoil, but that is me. I too have used wally oil for my beater 380k toyota with no problems.
