| The logical part of my brain says these oils are both fine products and there's not a dime's bit of difference between them. The emotional part of my brain keeps me buying Mobil 1 full synthetic for almost everything. (Bike uses a wet clutch so I use their motorcycle oil that is made for that) I use mobil 1 gear lube in the differentials and their grease on the grease fittings. I know it seems silly. I can't back it up with facts or science. http://www.mobil.com/australia-engli...es/Mobil_1.asp Quote:

| Most Synthetic oils are made from the same base stock. The only differences between them is the additives the individual manufacturers add. That being said, in order to be API certified they all have to follow the same basic guidelines during production. I have used most synthetic oils and can tell you there is very little difference between them. If you have used Mobil 1 with great success, dont mess with a good thing, but if you want to experiment with other ones, feel free. |

| Merlin your right there is more but not the ones that he listed I made a mistake. I prefer High Mileage Castrol in my truck. They also say that one can run synthetic longer or place more miles on it but I just don't feel right about it I prefer 3000 thousand mile oil changes. |

Its your truck, and your preference, so its all good. Some people just dont like going beyond 3,000 miles. No worries. | |

| I am in the auto parts industry. I would have to say that out of the 200 or so plus customers that I see, most prefer Mobil one synthetic. I too prefer Mobil synthetic. I agree that oil is oil. One can simply check the circle on the back of any bottle which shows the API rating which is currently SM. If you see that then your golden. Every brand does have its own additives. I comes down to personall preference. Mobil 1 for life, lol. |
