Allison transmission fluid

I wrote a question here about a month ago concerning how to change the Allison transmission in my 2005 GMC Durmax/Allison. Got wonderful response and help.
One thing that I've been told is to buy an Allison filter. So today I'm talking with the salesman about the filter which they have. I asked about if he sold the fluid. He said I needed to know what kind of fluid it had in it? He sells synthetic at $30 a gallon.
All I see in the book is to use Dextron III transmission fluid.
I bought the truck new and this is the first time any fluid has been changed or added, etc. So it has the original fluid that GMC put into it.
Can anyone tell me what kind of fluid it came with?

GM put DEXRON-III in there trannys of the line. So i imagine thats the one to use. You can also use TranSynd. Those are supposably the only two types compatible with the transmission. But i wouldnt want to chance any different. Heres a link to allison for more info

I would go with TranSynd as it is better than dex. I know allison started using only TranSynd in their heavy duty 6 speed in everything after 2003.
