| C3500 & C3500HD differences? Anyone know what the exact differences are between a '99 C3500 and a '99 C3500HD? And how to tell 'em apart?

| Well, that's why I'm confused... The side badges don't have the "HD", but the truck does have the heavier suspension and is rated for 15k GVWR. It was manufactured as a cab and chassis incomplete vehicle, then the utility body was added to complete it. I'm going to be ordering some parts soon (upper control arm bushings, shocks, etc) and I hate sending stuff back for exchange. What I'm looking for is a surefire, no-fail way to positively ID the model... besides badges.

| HD`s i beleive had 19.5 inch wheels and had a dana rear axle, i`m thinking a 130 dana? they were only chassis trucks, never had boxes. i`m thinking of course of the gmt-400 trucks, so if its the newer gmt-800s i have no clue....

| Okay, then this has to be a regular 3500 with just a beefed up rear suspension. 16" wheels but I'm not sure what the axle is. Just know it's a 4.10

| run the serial number at a dealer, you should get a history on it and original build

Running the VIN on this truck is kinda weird. It doesn't show up in the system for some reason. The original owner was the County Commissioner in West Palm Beach, Florida. They bought it as an incomplete vehicle and had the utility back put on. It was used as one of their service trucks until I bought it. Got a valid Florida title when I bought it, and a bill of sale, but my insurance company (GEICO) couldn't pull up any record of it, and neither could Virginia DMV when I registered it. When I switched insurance companies the new one (METLife) couldn't pull it up either. It's like the truck does not exist. Funny thing though, CarFax didn't have any problems pulling it up, and they list it as a Sierra C3500. What made me question if it was an HD or not is the 15k GVWR and extra heavy rear suspension. Even loaded with 5,000 pounds of topsoil if you stand to the side you can see over the top of the rear wheels clear through to the other side, with about 8" of clearance.

| Of what? The 5,000 pounds of topsoil? They're in the Truck Pictures gallery. Big white truck with lights.
