88 GMC with tranny issues

I have the 700r4/4l60e. This tranny was recently rebuilt. When in park, it acts as if its not fully engaged and wants to move forward. When put in reverse, it doesnt move but you can tell theres forward pressure. There is no neutral, its all forward gears no matter what. Is this something in the linkage, TV cable, shift solenoid. It has all new guts, no fluid leaks, new torque converter. Any ideas?? I need help. Thanks!!!

Welcome first of all to the forum and howdy from TEXAS. I'm sure Bradrhale will chime in to let you know how to adjust the tv cable correct. Or use the search button to find the info or look at all of his post he posted it not to long ago.
Take care! GMC

700r4 and 4l60e is not the same thing. maybe the 4l60 but yours should be the not electronic, the 4l60 or 700r4 3 speed with OD. i would think this is a linkage problem before anything else.

I have more info in case its needed. Its an 88 GMC K2500, 4WD, light 3/4 ton with automatic trans. Tranny is the 700r4, but has the 4l60 linkage. Called the tranny shop and they said the different linkage wont be causing the prob. I dont know much about the truck as I just got it for a hunting truck. The last owner said the tranny was recently rebuilt with all new guts. Maybe has 1500 miles on it, but he never had any of these problems. But Iam not going to take his word. I have disconnected the linkage and set the tranny in neutral and the steering column in neutral then reconnected it. But it didnt make any difference. It should be in park right now, but its not. I can go out and start it and it will move forward in park. In fact I can move the shifter to all gears and it still goes forward and will even start in all of them. I cant find a reverse at all. Its all forward. When the shifter in moved to different gears, it doesnt feel like a normal shift, you cant feel anything. You should be able to hear or feel something as it goes into gear, but I dont, theres nothing.
Iam at a loss as to what to do. Any suggestions you or anyone could offer would be great.. Thanks!!!!

Just got more info. Truck had been sitting for 3 years beofre I bought it. So I just went and bought a tranny filter and fluid. Lets see if that helps any.

This goes to show, YOU NEVER TRUST WHAT A SELLER SAYS.. Iam not mad in any way, I got a super deal on the truck. But the tranny is toasted. I took the pan off to replace the filter and it was full of metal chunks. So Iam searching for a tranny or maybe I will rebuild.
Thanks for you advice..

BUYER BEWARE!!!
i regret to hear of your luck. 1500 miles on the tranny makes me think that the person that rebuilt it didnt do something right. do you happen to know if a shop rebuilt it?? if yes, you might be able to get with the seller and get him to take it back to redo the tranny. most people offer some kind of warranty with work like this.
