one of your custom avatar guys...
Ooo, is Helga available ?

That wire would make me obsessive if I found it on my truck.

And yes, the wire is getting to me... I may have to find a flat place to park the truck tomorrow and see what I can find.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure it's not any connection for a block heater, for several reasons... The truck was a custom build for the county of West Palm Beach, Florida; the wires are attached to the frame all the way forward past the PS pump; and they're too light gauge for a heater. They feel like 18 ga.

I can't tell in the pic, but it kinda looks like it starts to go low. Is it going to the proportioning valve for your front disc brakes? It kinda goes to that direction if I am seeing the picture right.

It's hard to tell in the photos but let's see if I can explain...

In the first photo you see it from above, leaning in over the drivers fender. To the left is the front of the engine bay.

In the second photo you're looking down from the other direction, as if you were on top of the engine facing the drivers side. You can't see the broken end, but you can see the plastic cable cover as it passes over the wishbone.

The third is from the front, looking in, and you see the cover as it changes directions and heads towards the back of the engine. It looks like it passes right behind the oil pan.

I'll try for some better pics tomorrow, maybe even some from underneath.

Don't think that truck had the dilithium crystals either.
And I believe too early for fender-mounted cell phone charger.
Maybe a bumper-mounted, posted, rotating, visual spectrum cautionary device?
My first guess anyways.

Ya know, I thought about that, but since it's factory wiring...

No, I'm not 100% sure, but I am 99.9% sure, based on the clips welded to the frame to hold it in place. I can't see someone, even a county government shop, taking the trouble to weld a couple of clips to the frame just to hold a pair of wires in place. And pretty heavy duty clips at that. Anybody outside the factory would probably have just used wire ties, or drilled a couple of holes and attached the clips with screws.

I haven't had time to get any more pictures of it today, or get underneath to trace the wires further. I've got the air horns and compressor on my g/f's Dakota torn apart on the garage floor and I have to pick her up at the airport in three hours. The airport is 60 miles away, but with rush hour traffic I figure it'll take 2+ hours to get there.

(edit to add) You can see one of the clips in the first photo, about 5" from where the wire is broken. There's another in the third photo, just where the wire turns towards the engine.
