ABS Hydraulic Unit runs continuously

2003 4WD Sierra -- the hydraulic unit on my ABS system runs continuously, even with the ignition off & key removed. Started after running through some wet mud. No visible damage to speed sensor wires. Any ideas???

You have got something wet that shouldn't of got wet is my guess. Connectors, inside the connectors. Maybe disconnect the battery see if that will reset the system.

Won't reset

That doesn't work. It's my son's truck -- he's been disconnecting the battery every time he stops since the weekend -- no change. Today I unplugged the Hyd. Unit so he doesn't have to do that. Now he's driving with his ABS light glaring and obviously without ABS capability. Found some more info that says it's probably the circuitry in the Hydraulic unit. Costs in the $1000 range from a dealer. Gonna check into options...

Good point. I am glad I grew up without ABS. Hit the brakes and hope you don't hit it.

mack1001 you should just pull the ABS fuse - that's seperate for motor and doesn't totally kill system.
Tranny and ECM are tied in so better disconnecting as little as possible.
Also with that fuse out you may still be able to get a helpful code read.
Disconnecting battery will wipe out some but probably you can get good info
with ABS (EBCM) plugged in and ABS fuse out (60A on underhood block)

Definately know my stuff, if "stuff" is a euphemism,
but other than that, you meant it literally.
So,THERE to those who say I don't know stuff !
