Exclamation Stereo System question

I just recently had a new CD player,2 6-1/2 componet speakers,Jensen 760 amp(4 ch) & 2 4x6s put into my GMC Sierra.
Crutchfield advised me when hooking everything up.That I DID NOT need to run the newly installed speaker wires back to the receiver. They could be ran directly to the Amp.
A friend of mind's newphew hooked everything up for me.When we ran each speaker wire into each channel. For some reason,2 of the channels wouldn't work.So what he did, which I questioned some. Was run 4 channels into 2 ch screws.Meaning, doubling up on one channel on the amp. Now,this amp is suppose to be 760 watts which I would had thought would had been plenty of power to run 2 4x6 speakers 85 RMS..and 2 6-1/2 componets. Now I have the AMP WIDE OPEN and it still doesn't seem to be enough power. Plus,we only ran 1 RCA cable to the head unit.Is that what was suppose to be done.Cause all the settings on the radio;Bass, treble etc... seem to have very little effect on the system. Whats the best & optimal way to run everything, thanks.

I have a Alpine radio on my truck which is running four 4x6's and it sounds super now I do have some amps that I wanted to hook up but im fine with what I have now the 4x6's im using them for treble because I have a powered bass cannon under my back seat so that where im getting the bass. I would get somebody who knows what there doing so that you can appreciate the new sound system or run it like I did. I'm just plain lazy and I didn't want to mess up my back more by hooking it up like I my amps in my Burb plus some guy can do it for me for $80.00 bucks which I don't have. Disconnect everything and start from scratch make sure that you hooking up positives and negatives where they should be don't jerry rig nothing. Or come to TEXAS I will hook you up with the guy im talking about.

Easy fix dont spend another dime.
First go through check your wiring
1. Audio cables from the head unit (1 for just speakers, 2 with sub)
2. Speaker wire from head unit to speakers
3. Check Power and Ground
4. Check all your fuses
Still not working un-hook speakers from the amp and hook one pair testing each pair at a time to each individual channel. If they all work one channel but not the other call your supplier and tell them you have recieved a bad amp and need a new one.

There's your problem in bold. Congratulations, you just solved your own problem! Why did you only run one wire? You need both hooked up for the left & right channels & to get full power to the amp. Hooking up an amp is pretty straight forward & simple. Everything from the head unit to the amp should be labeled already & all you have to do is follow the labels. Most amps even include a diagram for you. The only things needed to come from the head unit is the small blue wire & Two RCA's, one for the left & one for the right. The power wire should run straight to the battery with a fuse in between & the ground should be short & mounted either directly to the frame or somewhere on the body that is directly linked to the frame. If nothing changes after you double check the wiring, you got a bad amp which is common among cheaper brands & sometimes even a good one can be bad.
