the size engine would help alot.
it could be a v8 swap for all we know or it could be a little 'ol 2.2.

Guys, there may be a misunderstanding here. Welcome to the forum traffic. This is why important to let us know you are working on. It appears everyone is thinking you are working on a V6 or V8. I am starting to think this is possibly a 4 cyl right??? Some engiens, yes you can get to a lifter by taking off a valve cover or side cover, as in an inline engine. So let us know what you are working on an then that will clear up the assumptions and the confusion.

Duh, guess I should have went to page 2 that I did not see. So that is the issue, its a 4 popper. Have you tried any additives like Lukas to maybe rejuvinate the noisy lifter or this one of those solid flat out wore down kind?

2.2! disregard what I suggested. So yes a 2.2 you can get them WITHOUT REMOVING THE INTAKE. now I know what I am working with Umm can you snap a pic of the valvetrain I am thinking either the rockers are on a rail system which means you need to remove the rail or they are seperate which in the case you can remove each rocker itself. Now there might be a ratainer that could be holding them in place that might need to be removed.

Time To Fix Truck

I need to apologize for confusing everybody. That was not intended. I forgot you can not read my mind!! This is where I am with the truck right now. I removed the valve cover and rocker arms and push rods earier this year and could not see anything wrong. Checked oil flow also. I was told it was lower. I tried getting the lifter out with a tool I bought but no luck. Now it is really getting noisy. I am getting ready to take it down before winter. Where I am confused is how to go about working on it. I have had people tell me a flat camshaft, take the engine out ,etc. It sounds like everybody is saying to try getting the lifter that is bad out or should I take them all out? Thats why I thought it might be easier to pull the head. I am not a car mechanic by trade but over my 50 years I have had to do my share of work on the vehicles myself to save money. Any suggestions will greatly help.

Thanks Trafficflow
