I think 454's ahve been Oil thirst for a long time. This 84 PU I have w/ 454. I bought a 5gt jug thinking older motor 5qts is standard. Nope added the 6th and KNEW that would do it. Nope. Took 7 with filter and still have room for more. And thats a stock pan.

I misread about your post of two filters one being high capacity. Truth for me is I never check the stick after a oil change I just put whatever the specs say, in.

well good thing about a KN is you CAN afford to go 20-30,000 miles before messing with it. Instead of 10-15,000 with a normal filter
