DUMB question oil amount 1991 7.4L

Fixing to go get some oil and filter and need to know how much oil I will need (I know, I need a manual)

7.4L/Automatic

you may find the 8th quart brings it to the line, if it is not oem

oh yea i forgot, there are two diff filters for that engine. The stock one and a high capacity one that allows the oil system to hold an extra quart.

I always thought that as long as the oil was about half in the hatch marks your good do to oil expansion when hot.

well yea but the way i think about it is it has a full line for a reason.

Money saving tip:
Put an extension on the dipstick and it'll read "full" sooner.
