vortec 350

I have a stock vortec 350 in a 1997 GMC 1500 and I am wanting to know what cam I can put in it. I am also buying headers and a programable computer for it so if there are any ideas on what is a good or bad one

best bet is to call the cam manufacturer and see what they recommend for your application. they can hook you up with one that will work best in the rpm range you want to run in. whether it be high rev application or low end torque for towing.

you can put whatever cam you want into it. there is a vast selection but only you know what you are seeking out of your engine. some cams boost torque numbers and some ground pounders will increase your HP numbers. some will also kill engine performance depending on what other components you have.

Best tool to use, is the phone. Call the cam company of your choice, it is their business so they're the experts.

One thing I have seen in my quest for engine mods(down the road) is you need to keep in mind of what machine work on the heads will/has been done (if any)such as springs and clearance and if you are keeping the stock intake or an aftermarket such as Edelbrock.
