| ABS Leak fixable? ok guys got some new info about my brake issue that ive been having. I was just out looking at my truck checking my fluids and noticed a leak on the abs module. I know that these units are suppost to be non-service able but all this is a gasket. It appears to come off via 4 torx screws. question is can i take the ebcm off the top and use some black rtv as a gasket? here are some pics.

| Yup... Replace the unit. Seriously, I know it doesn't look like a difficult fix, and probably isn't, if you have the right parts and know how it comes apart and goes back together, but I'm not sure I'd want to start tearing something apart that I didn't even have a parts diagram for, let alone the proper gasket to put in it when I got it apart.

| well the only thing is i dont have the money for the $500 price tag for a new one. my plan was to replace the gasket and then bleed as much air as i could out and then take it to the dealer the next day. to have it bled the rest of the way

Right now you have a minor leak, and you can just keep adding fluid but still drive the truck. But if you tear it apart and can't get it back together, then what? Then you have no truck, and probably not even a core to turn in when you scrape up the money for a rebuild. I'm all for saving a buck here and there, and I know about not having the money you need right when you need it, but the last thing you need is a worse problem, right?

| yea i know bernie, its just that i thought for a long time it was something i was doing wrong when bleeding them out only to find out it wasn't me but a $500 part. It just seems like a have to constantly bleed my brakes like once a week to keep the air out, kinda driving me nuts. but maybe i'll my a few phone calls tomar and see what i can find

| i don't see a leak, just dirt and debris. clean it and see if it gets wet again.
