O2 sensor and catylitic converter codes I've got a 1998 GMC Sierra with the 5.7 Vortech. My check engine light is on so I took it to have the codes read. It came back with the converter isn't working properly and the O2 sensors might be bad. I used to have a 94 Impala SS (ODBI) and if I did'nt use AC delco parts it would'nt run correctly. When replacing the O2 sensors on the GMC what brand works the best?

dont take this the wrong way, but there is no such code as converter isnt working or O2 sensors are bad. there are codes that read a fault but doesnt always mean that those parts are actually to blame. you are still probably correct that they are malfunctioning but dont look at a code and say, its says this is the part so it must be broken. i have not known brand to matter on O2 sensors. just make sure you count the wires before buying the sensor. they have 3 and 4 wire combos.

Your right about the codes, I got it done at Autozone and I threw away the read out. But it had to do with the cat and O2 sensors. I'm going to take it to my buddies shop that's on the other end of town when I get a chance, he's got a real diagnostic computer.
