My GMC is a dog.

Why is my 09 Sierra 2500HD 6.0L such a dog? When I go to pass another vehicle first there's a pause then it has no acceleration. When it reaches higher RPM's it acts like its got some power but when I punch it going 55mph it acts like I have a six cylinder. My 04 2500 was quick off the accelerator and pushed you back in the seat. Is this something from the factory? Can I do something about it? Thanks for any help.

$300 custom tune from nelson performance to have the torque management taken out completely or reduced along with gaining a little hp.

it is a calibration built into the PCM (powertrain control module) or TCM (transmission control module) if your truck is equipped with a separate ECM (engine control module). GMs way of controlling all that horsepower the LS motor is capable of putting out.

betcha can't do burnouts either. get a tune and you will.

Thanks for the explanation. Why do they do that, you would think they'd want the best performance right out of the factory. Will a custom tune void any warranty?

no way for the dealership to know you have it unless you tell them.

the 6.0L is capable of 350+ hp out of the factory, you don't need that much as a daily driver, so GM de-tuned it. GM puts the LS engine base in everything from trucks to the corvette and each one is tuned to match the purpose of the vehicle it is in.
