Engine light just came on

OK...i just got this truck last monday. had new stock suspension put back on it and was driving home and of course the engine light came on. when i come to a stop...the engine acts like its going to cut off...the idle drops way low (even though the tach doesnt seem to drop) and it seems to level out some but still seems too low at idle. was suggested by a friend that the trottle body probably needs a good cleanin with cleaner (i know to get the stuff thats made for that type of intake and not carb cleaner)
has anyone else had this problem and if so...did cleaning the trottlebody resolve the problem?
btw...i have the 5.7 vortec engine, auto

96 is obd2. run by an autozone and have them put a code reader on there. they can give you a printout on the codes with possibles as to the cause of the code.

it can shake a little but it needs to be closed with no leaks. it is plastic so it will give a little. realistically, some people rip those off before it starts making the annoying sound everyone claims it produces.
