No info about brand though...

These are the guys I bought the compressor for the Dakota from, and I was very pleased with the quality, the price and the service.

Motorcraft | Car Heater Core | Orifice Tube | Evaporator Core | Fuel Pump Module

first off, stop looking at compressors until you know what is wrong. you might be spending a bunch of money before you realize that it was the inexpensive low pressure switch. find out if the system is full first and foremost. if not full, than you have a leak somewhere that needs attention. if full, then it can be a pressure switch, fuse, clutch, or even a dirty oriface tube.

harbor freight i believe has a cheaper 134a tester which will be yours. also look around the fittings for signs of oil and caked grime. this is a red flag for a refrigerant leak. you might also start the truck and let it idle. get someone to turn on the AC while you watch the AC pulley in clutch. does it pull in at all?? unless the compressor kicks on, it will be difficult to determine if the system is full or half full.

it is ashame that you do not live closer. i have all the stuff that you need to diagnose and repair your system including the leak sniffer for pinpointing system leaks.

i made my evac pump. found an old fridgadaire and took the compressor out. sealed off all but 2 of the capillary tubes and left one for suction, one on the pressure side. i sealed the suction side and installed a saddle valve. believe it or not, it will pull 29 before robinaire or yellow jacket will. have owned it for 3 or 4 years now and still going strong.
besides, i enjoy working on AC units. one of the few things that i am somewhat good at.
