| a/c work ok...i have a 1996 gmc c1500 cubcab with the 5.7 vortec engine. how difficult is the a/c to work on and is it expensive to get fixed?? supposely the compress it bad but i dontknow...the fan blows but no cold air |

| compressor will run about 200. i just did a 96 last month so kinda still fresh in my mind. first thing first, diagnose if low on freon. then go from there. by the way, very easy to work on. only hard part is busting the connection on the back of the accumulator. it is almost in the firewall and requires 2 thin large wrenches to take apart. |

| i most likely have those...i just have never worked on a/c...wish i knew someone local to help, not sure how comfortable i am doin it solo |

| Technically it's illegal for someone who doesn't have MAC (mobile air conditioning) certification to work on a charged system but... I'd strongly suggest that you do some reading up on auto a/c systems and proper safety precautions though. Just for your own safety and well-being.

| Brad since you have done it if we have the truck get together over there im taking my compressor so that you can put it on and pull a vacuum and so on. Your buddy! GMC PS-Say everybody since Brad has done it lets all get our compressors changed out. LOL |

| I do 'em too GMC. Just did my g/f's Dakota last spring and recharged the system on my truck this summer.

| anyone near Tampa fla wanta help me LOL I agree BernieB..and thats why i have never done one yet although the price of gettin someone to do it is $$ so i might need to just go about learning this |

| It's not difficult work to do, but you do need to be aware of the dangers involved with refrigerants at high pressure.
