If you plan on removing the actual TB then yes there should be a gasket. I have never really messed around with cleaning sensors and all but I know Brad and some others here have had experiences doing this so they will chime in when they can. I think you can buy like a TB gasket kit that should have all the gaskets needed to remove/clean. If your engine looks like this then yes.

well...not sure if i need to remove the throttlebody...but if theres a small leak...i'll be hard to tell so i might see whats the cost on that gasket while im doin it. plan to remove the entire ducting and give it good cleaning and i know the TPS (throttleposiotin sensor) is right there too...for $35 I'd replace...wouldnt that be nice if all this odd behavior was fixed but just that alone...I never seem to be that lucky but hey...this deal with this truck was lucky and the work i got for those 22" wheels was lucky too so who knows...

ok...update...i replaced the TPS and air filter...and cleaned the throttle body...idles better but still abit of the same problem. I reset the battery connection so that cleared the engine service light. When it shows again I will head to autozone or adv auto and get the error code. i noticed the the connection to the TPS and the idle sensor thats plugged right next to the TPS appears to have had some type of meltin or heat damage...the wires seems ok and the connection seems ok. not sure what that all bout but wonder of that idle sensor is goin bad?? also when i drove and accecelorated...the RPM went way up before it shifted?? that was bout 20-35 mph (just drove around my neighborhood)

I believe the 'RPM going way up before it shifted' is due to the reset, it will take a bit of time for the computer to relearn the shift points and driving style.

That is a good point. I know some vehicles the computer is smart enough to tell the difference in drivers. Meaning you have a lead foot it will shift a bit hard cause we all know the harder the shift the better but we also know Grandma doesn't want that hard shift cause she doesn't want a broken anything. So the computer will remember how much pedal you give it and shift accordingly.

Hmm how many miles do you have on ur car? im thinking of replacing the Tps also just cuz i have 160k on my car but my idle is perfect and shift is perfect but i do get a little jerk at times also, so im going to do a tranny flush, and have it replaced with either lucas oil or go mobile 1 synthetic, not sure yet but what do you guys think lucas or mobile 1??

i did mine cause the part was pretty cheap and since i was breaking down the rest of the intake and cleaning it i figured it wouldnt hurt. the truck has bout 153k but supposely the engine has bout 93k...dont know how to figure that out for sure
i have noticed an improvement on the idle and the shifting so i think i need to do a 2nd cleaning in the throttlebody once more and that should do it.
