Sierra Z71 4WD Needs Service

Hey Guys,

Today when I started up my 2003 Sierra Z71 with 5.3 engine on the display it said "Service 4WD". Also the lights to select the drive mode on the switches for 2WD, 4WD, etc. are not lit with the little yellow light. The truck was running fine just yesterday no service lights or anything. Truck has 79,000 miles. Whats involved with servicing the 4WD? What would cause this light to come on? Thanks for any responses.

idk if this helps, but my dads 03 silverado has had this happen a time or two, and it always clears out after a couple miles of driving then restarting the truck. jus give it a day or two, and see what happens

drive it a few more days and see if it goes out. these models have a problem with the ground in the push button switch that will activate the Service 4wd in the info center but not affect the 4wd components. if you dont have the lights either, i would be willing to bet money that this is your problem. pop the front off of the dash to access the panel and see what you have there.
