| Limp home or walk home mode 03 GMC 2500 is operating in limp mode or walk home mode, which means it will go about 10 mph. Is the TAC the only system that could cause a limp home mode concern? |

| Usually its only overheat that will get you to the Limp home mode and it should run 40mph if I remember right. I think you might be in broke down mode. Any other lights on the dash?

| A few years ago i was screwin around wit my dads buddys truck. 03 2500 gmx duramax wit the allison. he has it chipped and stuff and me jsut mashin it to the floor put it in limp mode. i limped it home at about 10 or 15 a very long mile because i thought i broke it and shut it off and a hour later i fired it back up and it was just fine. Found out about the limp mode in the allison later that night haha.

| Obviously there is at least 2 differant limp home mode situations. I was only aware of the overheating scenario. Now according to this thread, Allison automatic also has a limp situation too. For the overheat limp mode, the motor must be overheated, which can be caused by low or leaking coolant, stuck Tstat or malfunctioning water pump. Other more severe things like blown head gasket would cause it too of course.

| And probably not gonna. We loose newbies cuz defaults are not set to notify them of posting to their threads, and its a .org addy when they think its .com. Gonna change someday I been told along with censors being reasonable. Can't wait.
