| Hey guys i have a 2000 gmc Z71 and ive been having a problem that has stumped myself...as well as my mechanic. It recently started to studer a little bit when accelerating in the low end. As soon as a step on the pedal hard though it jumps out of studering and does fine but when it goes down to a low speed it studers again. After this though the check engine light keeps coming up after it does this. It only does that like 3 times a week...the rest of the time it runs super smooth. My mechanic has checked it out and cant figure out whats wrong everything on the engine is good.... he said it might be the catylitic converter cause a oxogen reading on the computer. I do have a high performance chip on this truck... but it has never done this before...maybe i need some more air flow or something ??? ANYONE KNOW WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG ???? thanks for any input animal |

| Check the cat. By b/f's camaro did the same thing, and his cat was all clogged up. All he needed was a new one, simple as that. Good luck

| first, its not your cat. a plugged cat will kill the engine when you get to higher rmp's. it will not level out and it will be a consistent problem, not just 3 times a week. a bad cat could cause it to lean out, but that will be consistent also. if the check engine light is coming on, your mechanic should pull the trouble code. if he doesnt have a scanner, find one that does. it will lead you better than any bad cat b.s. you might hear. and apparently not everything is fine on your engine or you wouldnt have a problem. |

| I'm gonna recommend checking your fuel filter/lines and injectors. I have had that problem in several of my vehicles and it's been either fuel filter or clogged injectors. Sometimes it will blow through and sometimes it won't. Running the codes is a great idea too. Good luck!!
