| 1994 GMC Sierra Performance Hey, I have a 1994 GMC Sierra Z71...Its got a 5.7 V8 in it and its a 4X4...It is really slow though and i dont wanna race it i just want to know i have the power there in case i need it. Right now all i have done is Flowmasters Exhaust wich helped out a little but its still slow off the line. I was thinking about gettin and cold air intake, they are cheap. Is this a good idea? i dont want to spend more than 500$ so does anyone have any advice on what i should do? Thanks |

| cold air intake will help, and either a chip or a programmer can squeeze a few horsepower out of it with out haveing to dig into the motor

| Doing something as simple as getting a K&N filter can help. Also you may be able to find a forced air induction kit cheaper than a cold air. With mustangs, people used to rig something like a dryer hose from a spot getting direct air (like where the fogs lights used to be) and route it up into the air filter box. Then switching over a a synthetic oil to keep temperatures down is another cheap one. Then maybe you can save your money for something a little nicer like equal length headers.

| I have the SAME exact truck. Mine is quick and has more power than I will ever use.At 150,000 miles it runs good and uses no oil. Just out of curiosity have you tuned it up? I mean a complete tune-up, cap, rotor, distributor, plugs and wires as well as all the filters? How many miles does your truck have on it? You can also check for vacuum leaks.. a fairly common power robbing problem. Check your compression per cylinder, compression means a lot when it comes to performance.. so you can also check that. You can also look at upgrading your carb, cam and lifters may not be a bad idea. For the most part the 5.7 350 v8 was kinda anemic as far as performance goes, at least when you compare it to the 1994 z-28 camaro. However when ya compare bones to bones I'll stomp just pretty much any stock ford or dodge of the same year...that is if you can find them! Most are in the junkyard by now...lol anyhow.. I hope this helps |
