2000 GMC Sonoma

For those who live in hot weather.
I am from Chicago and recently moved out to Utah. The weather has started to make my truck over heat. I checked all fluids and got a tune up and it still over heats, any suggestions? I have the Highrider Version (ZR2). It also doesnt help that its black...I do park it on a garage. Any help would greatly be appreciated...
It says to use the DEXCool which I have been using. I change the oil every 1500 hundred miles, religiously.

Out of curiosity... do you have grill inserts? They can allow for not enough air and cause overheating....

Everything is stock. I was just wondering maybe if there are some tips and also I did check my heat temp sensor and checked all the gauges. I just find strange since its a difference of 20 to 30 degrees hotter than the summer in chicago.
its about 110 in Utah now and usually summer in Chicago 80- to 90 degrees.
I dont soo how it would make such a huge difference. I also cheacke the oil return valve as well as the radiator and all is fine. Its bugging the **** out of me. Its like a paper cut that constanly hurts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thanks for replying DodgeChick, This forum is pretty cool.
Anyone else have some performance upgrades that would help my truck run better would also help.

Oh ok...
and you've already checked the things I was going to suggest checking lol. Can you take it to a mechanic and see if they can find something maybe you're overlooking?

I'd say make sure your pulleys are all spinning consistently, how's your AC? Do you use it? That may have something to do with it. Did ya check ur water pump? Any leakage underneath when ur driving it (besides the A/C if you're using it)? Thermostat? maybe stuck...

As for performance upgrades....I love me some K&N and Flowmaster 40 series

spray 409 through radiator let it set for 5 mins to loosen dirt/ with engine off with water hose work from inside the radiator shroud theough fan blades and spray water through radiator all over if possible. Spray through the air cond rad as well you might be surprised the amount of stuff/bugs/leaves dirt and grime that comes of the cooling fins on the outside of the radiator.

Put in a new thermostat, that might just do the trick. Does that have an electric fan on it or is it belt driven, if it's electric make sure it works ok. Also the inside of your radiator may need flushed.

This is an old thread. Did she ever come back and post her findings? Everyone failed to mention the old clutch fan. This is my first suspect hin this case since it didnt overheat in his last plce he lived. Seems to eliminate the thermostat and the radiator. Would be interested to know what it ended up being.
