transmission help

I have a 1995 GMC 2500, I was plowing snow the other week and when I finshed a driveway. I pulled out and was driving down the road, the truck was stuck in 3erd gear, after some time, and shutting the truck off and playing with the four weel drive lever, I turned the truck on and everthing was fine, shifting fine. Three days later we had another storm, only this time I was almost done with a driveway, went to back up, but I didn't have reverse. There were no sign's when plowing that this happened ( no noises, grinding ) I looked at the trany fluid, fine nothing wrong with it.
When I finally got turned around, with help I was drining down the road and in addition to not having reverse I didn't have overdrive. Keep in mind I do plow a fair amount of driveway's and use the truck as a truck, the way it should be used, I don't abuse it,
Any ideas? could it be the bands? or maybe a quick fix. First time ever having this type of problem, Meaning no signs of trany slip, noise or smell.
Thank you for any help anyone could be in helping me solve this problem with out getting rip off by the dealership.
The truck is a 1995 GMC 2500, SLT with 159,000 miled on it but runs like it is off the show room floor.

If you lost O.D. and reverse you have a problem. Sounds like the clutches. O.D. and reverse run off the same clutch pack and drum assy
