| Tortion Bar question I recently tried to adjust my tortion bar, and in doing so I snapped one of the blot heads off on the drivers side. I can get the blot out, but my question is is that is a matter of just replacing the blot or is there more to it than that? Is anything going to happen when I pull the bolt out and does anything special have to be done to put a new one in? Thanks! |

| I think you are talking about the vertical bolt under the torsion bar key correct? if so then you will have to jack the truck to relieve some tension and then tap it out and remaive it, You will need a froint end alignment after you replace it unless you count the threads and get it back in at the same height.

| For some reason everybody wants to play with what they think is a way of raising their vehicle. Those torsion bar adjustments are only there to get the body heaight/z height into factory specs. LIke most people they just crank them up all the way and all it does is completly throw off the ergonomics of the vehicle and causes it to ride all messed up and tire wear. They are their to compensate for a weak /sagging spring/torsion bar or a slightlty twisted frame, not intended to jack up the front end. |

| I see alot of lifted trucks with the torsion bars tweaked and the ford keys installed, When they corner the front tires almost ride on the sidewall because the front end is so far out of whack. Torsion bar lifts are not a good method of lifting a truck. If you want to lift it buy a good lift kit.

| I understand what you are saying. I was not trying to get a lift out of it. I put a plow on it last year and someone told me to crank them bolts a few turns and it would carry the plow better. However I do not like the ride it gave me so therefore wanted to put them back where they were. As far as the alighnment goes chevyguy, and counting threads, the way I had done it before was to measure to the base of the wheel well on each side of the truck until they are both at same height. Will that be sufficient if I replace the bolt? And what do u mean by remaive it? Forgive me if I sound dumb, but thats why I am here to learn more about this stuff! hahaha |

| Jack the truck up and it will relieve some of the tension applied to the torsion bar bolt.
