| ping on the go On my 86 gmc when i get into it it will ping I know it has to be in the timing but I don`t know what the timing is supposed to be set at on a 305. Would some on help me

| I'm pretty sure its at tdc 0 degrees. but if the egr ports are plugged up in the intake it will ping even if timing is on the money |

| Yip ^^^, the timing marks on the harmonic balancer and timing cover help with setting the timing, But you first need to know what it should be set at. Unplug the dist vacuum advance and set it at o degrees. then plug everything back in. If it still pings it either has a plugged EGR or a stretched out timing chain.
