Hey I'm thinking about getting bigger rims for my Sierra and I have a few questions.

1. What size would look good but not throw handling and ride quality out the window?

2. Would my speedometer need to be recalibrated?

3. If yes, would my local tire shop be able to recalibrate my speedometer?

4. If my tire shop can't do it who can?

well, first of all the bigger the rim, the better the handeling, but you dont want a big rim if you got off road at all. i got 16's and i like em, 17's would be cool too, but i dont like really big rims. the speedo wont change unless you get a larger radius tire...

1. Sorry don't know..
2. If you get a bigger tire and rim, yes, if smaller tire by bigger wheel (leaving the overall size the same) then no.
3/4 Not likely, depending on the year it might be a computer calibration or it might be a speedo gear change on the tranny(thinking older ford). Which means either a dealership will have to do it, or a shop that carries the correct computer equipment.

yeah im gonna side with scottie on the rim thing, i like some big rims but theyre not for me, depends on the application i guess just not for me. 16"s are big enough. 17"s are a little less than borderline in my book. anyway just thought i'd throw my 2 cents worth in there.

16s arent big enough (for me)................but im sure u and scottie actually use your truck.......i want to do some stuff to mine that u would think isnt very practical (which it really isnt but i dont really need my truck to haul things,go off road, ect...) i want to get some rims, lower it a little or at least level it and put a denali front end on it (eventually).

Another thing to consider is that many of the larger size tires, 18,20,22 and so on esp in low profile are only rated for passenger cars. They will work ok on truck if you don't plan on doing any hauling or towing. Some heavier ply low profiles are starting to come out but they carry a heafty price tag. Kinda hard sometimes getting what you want and what will work, got to split the middle sometimes, lol. Have 23 years in tire industry, any more questions just ask. Eddie

im not a big rim person for trucks, but hey, slam it to the ground with some hydrualics, tuck some 20's under there, and start impressing some people but in my opinion trucks were made to be raised if anything.........
