2005 GMC Transmission Squeal

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra with the aluminum H.O. engine option. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd under hard acceleration, the transmission squeals fairly loud. Has anyone else experienced this and what should I do about other than keeping my foot out of the gas?

Are you positive it's the tranny. Could be the serpentine belt. Just my .02

No I am not sure it is the transmission. But it does seem to make the sound while shifting. I guess it could be the serpintine belt.

I know it sounds corny but if the belt has slack or the tensioner is loosing tension the sudden decrease in rpm due to shifting could cause it. How long does it squeal?

If you are talking about pedal to the metal shifting the belts do squeal just like the guy above mentioned and is a normal charictoristic of the engines. But it is worth looking at the belt and tensioners to make sure all is ok.

It squeals for maybe one second or less and yes this is pedal to metal full throttle acceleration. The engine is the high performance version (310HP) and runs quite well. Just wondering if anyone else has the same truck with the same condition. I will definitely check the serpentine belt. Thanks for the replies.
