| No Air from Dash front My 99 Sierra will not blow air through the front of the dash (face setting) regardless of where the selector switch is set. It does blow air to my feet and to the defrost vents. Sometimes it will work in the winter when its cold. It sounds like the vent door (?) isn't opening for what ever reasons? Any ideas of the difficulty in getting to this area? Would I need to remove the dash in order to do it.. or should I bite the bullet and take it into a shop? thank you in advance. |

| if your body style is the older one used from 88-00 try this, mine gets stuck sometimes and so IF i turn it onto high heat then direct it at the windshield for a minute or two then switch it to towards your head it will catch, yes i blast myself with the hot air, and now that it is locked into blowing it at you then i switch it to cold and turn the AC on. I figure till that stops working it saves me the hassle of repairing it |

| Thank you for the reply. I did that and all the other things I could think of. I finally took it into the Dealers and got it repaired. My truck is going to be 7 years old in a few weeks and this is the first time I've had to spend any money on anything except tires. So..since I intend to keep her for a long time it was well worth the repair. Was about $360..not real bad.. FYI its the servo that controls the defletor that is the problem. |

| Look under the dash you will see the"controll arm" for the dash to defrost to floor. All the way down is for the dash setting middle is for floor and up is defrost. Mine broke, in the summer I put a weight on it so I have air blowing out of the dash.

| Smoke, where exactly can you see that arm under the dash? I've looked and I could see much. There is a shroud around the fan housing etc that seems to keep every thing covered. Thanks. |

| sorry for not replying quicker been out of town, It is hard to explain, if you reach under your dash and or look under you will see a metal/tin arm that controls the air, all the wal to the fire wall is for dash, up position is for defrost. When I get home I will try to send pics to explain better.

| same air flow problem as BobH I have the same problem BobH had; great airflow from the defroster and fthe floor, but none from the vents, front or back. Mine is also a 99 GMC Sierra, new style, 4WD, ext cab. Does anyone know where i can get diagrams or pictures showing where the servo Bob referred to and the control arm Smoke referred to? Thanks in advance. |
