I'm browsing through my issue of LMC Truck and looking for things that interest me...Well I came across the air intake page and noticed that it was in my price range. It's called "Air Inate System" and is cheaper than the K&N and Airaid systems. $100 for the system and here's what it says since I can't find a link for it online- "The Air Intake System will give you improved performance by increasing air flow, better throttle response and acceleration and will boost horsepower and torque. It has more than twice the air flow of restrictive OE-style filters. The Air Intake SYstem features a washable, reusable high-volume, cone style filter and a chrome plated aluminum tube for durability and style. The system is easy to install with no drilling, cutting or fabrication. Installs in 30 minutes or less" Part # 38-4344 Air Intake System 4.3L 5.0L 5.7L 88-95 I drive a 94' Sierra 1500 with the 5.7L...So I'm wondering if this would be a worthwile upgrade or no? Thanks! -Gus

i've already posted something about cold ait intakes in the dodge forum, and most people made a good point that you can get a lot more horsepower with a performance programmer like supechips or hypertec. read what that guy larry posted in the thread over in the dodge forum. something about sensors. makes sense though. but i'm not sure if they even make a programmer for a 94.

Hmm, alright...well here's a pic from the magazine since I can't find a link to it- http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9...Picture011.jpg I'm open to more opinions/suggestions Oh also, my engine's stock filter has the 2 screws on top that you unscrew and take the air cleaner top lid off to access the air filter. But when I look at the aftermarket ones, there is only one screw in the middle instead of 2 off to the sides. I think the older 5.7's had the single screw, like up to 1992..I's this something I would need to modify? Last edited by tec_41; 08-20-2006 at 10:06 PM.

Gas, it's the 5.7 tbi that was used up until 96 when the Vortecs came out and they ditched the throttle body injector

it sounds like it would be a real pain in the *** just to put on a cold air intake. i would just go with a performance programmer or drop in a turbo. i don;t know all that much about TBI, but i think you would have to reaplce that whole throttle body and maybe the manifold to put the intake kit on there. because the holes for the kit dont even match. unless you can find one that does. that might not be right, just guessing.

Here's what I ended up doing, the $15 Home Depot upgrade- I also just won an Airaid throttle body spacer off ebay for $77.

| I dont treally see how that is an upgrade, it replaces a factory piece with another very similar item. As for the throttle body spacer, make sure you get fuel line extensions. Should come with the kit if it is a good kit.
