I had to replace a 3.42 rearend 3 times and finally found it was cheaper to switch to 3.73's in the front and rear from 4wheelparts.com. They will last alot longer too. 3.42 is a light duty gear and if you do any pulling or work with your truck you'll love them. Think it cost me $452.00 for ring and pinions and install kits with bearings and shims for front and rear. And it wasn't as bad as everyone says to change them out and dealing with backlash and the crush sleeve spacing.

Remember you don't need to replace with rear gm locker, open will be less money hope this helps you find a good one inspect before you buy one.
