1997 Sierra steering issues

Hi all, i'm new to the group and have a question. It seems that the steering will become loose then tighten up again. I think its the EVO sensor.
I do have another question. How much vertical play is allowed on the pitmann and idler arms?
Thanks Karl

Pull the codes on the EVO sensor. If the steering corrects itself after so many miles then its the EVO. I'd do the EVO thing first before considering the pitman/idler arms. At 58,000 miles, I think your pitman/idler should be ok.

It has a bumper to bumper warranty, I had it back to the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong with it....big suprise there. I am just getting my info straight for my return trip to the dealer.
Thanks

To troubleshoot if this is an EVO problem, they really need to drive it several miles. How much I don't know but it needs to be driven and their parking lot ain't enough. If this is what it does when you drive it then I guess demand that they replace the EVO solenoid....with warranty coverage of course.

gmtech has a spectacular aura aboutgmtech has a spectacular aura aboutgmtech has a spectacular aura about
do you get this feeling of losing and then regaining power steering like on off ramps or lane changes on highway if so i would see it is the evo system but is just needs the sensor at the base of the steering colum steering wheel speed/position sensor we at the dealer have done alot on that bodystyle

The dealer is going to replace the steering sensor. It has developed a POP! in the front end. I took the service tech for a ride and when it POPPED! He looks at me and says"what was that" I said you tell me your the expert lol. When it Pops you can feel it in the floorboard and steering colum... were stumped. I think front hub or front rear but i'm no expert.

"What was that?", "You tell me you're the expert". That's funny. I mean no disrespect to the tech but that was really funny.
