Cali Smog Stroker

Stroking a TBI 350 in a 1988 GMC Suburban.
Looking for more torque and useable power, without shelling out the money and gas on a big block. Not sure if this is the right decision, but live and learn right?

Does anyone know if I can legally stay on the right side of the CALIFORNIA SMOG POLICE by stroking this motor, or will I no longer be in compliance with the emissions laws?

I have no idea if this will change my emissions at the tailpipe, or if there is any way whatsoever for the sniffer to even know if I've made the change.

All stock emissions equipment will remain on the vehicle.

If anyone has any idea if this is CA legal, please let me know. ANY advice, suggestions, questions, please reply.

Thanks,
Philo

Yes, this idea will change your emission at your tailpipe.

Although a slight increas in tailpipe emissions will occur,as long as you retain all of the bits, and pieces that make it CA compliant, you should be alright. That 350 is only going to go to 383 right? The biggest concern would be whether or not the fuel system, will keep up with the new engine or not. It is still possible to make more power from a larger displacement engine, but it mat require some modifications to the ECM, and fuel management system to do so.
I run a Lingenfelter 383 in a 95 Z28, and it met EO#D333-13, and D333-16 Ca emissions requirements. It still passes tailpipe tests with flying colors. Car has about 22k miles. (mostly 1320 feet at a time, LOL).
