Unhappy 99 gmc not staying running

hello everyone out here. I have a 99 gmc ext cab 2wd with a 5.3 engine.
I'am wondering if anyone has had a problem with the engine starting and then quiting about 1 sec later . there are no light that come on to indecate that theres a problem. this only seem to happen when its about
-10C. the only way to get it to run is to keep trying to start the engine and than it will finaly stay running after about 50 tries. if anyone knows what the problem maybe please get back to me.
thank you all.

well you need 3 things for the engine to run so check first to make sure your air filter is clean...then check for fuel... and lastly spark.

temp switch controls the rich idle for cold weather. put it on a good scan tool and check its readings

You say that after you finally get it started it runs for a few months. When it acts up, how long does it sit before you try it again? Or when it does is it right after you buy fuel at the same gas station?

I would think it is not the fuel pump, only because of the infrequency of the issue, I think it could be moisture in the fuel. Therefore I would be willing to bet a can of dry gas occasionally with random fill ups might help. Being that cold, moisture can freeze in the fuel lines, and prevent delivery to the engine. So perhaps dry gas can prevent that, and on the cold cold days, you should be fine.

Just my theory here, take it for what it is.
