mileage

picked up a 2000 crew-cab 3/4 ton that already had some goodies added (

), started driving it daily and getting 5-6 mpg around town(

), I expected around 10, but have been obviously disappointed. the truck is runnin' on 315-75-16 shoes, and I'm aware of the extra tire weight, but 5!!!!! Anyone else have the same results?

Welcome to the site.
That mpg sounds pretty low. I have a very early .030 over 454 with 5.13 gears and a TH 400 (44" tires) that gets better mileage than that, almost double to be exact. I also have a 521 ci big ford, complete roller motor, C6 with a very loose converter, 40" Boggers, and 4.88:1 gears, and she gets 8 mpg, (when I stay off the loud pedal, kinda hard to do, too much fun smashing the gas!). Sounds like you have troubles there somewhere.
When was the last tune up? How many miles are on it? Is it super tired?

I wonder if my speedo has been corrected for the 315's, that would throw thins off a bit, correct?

Not a considerable amount. The 315 is not all that large, and the difference between the stock tire, and the 315 is not so great that it would make that considerable of a difference.
