Angry transfercase problem

ok i just recenty changed out the clutch in my 83 gmc 1500 and now the transfercase keeps going into Nuteral but it only does it when i holding the clutch in if its in gear it doesnt do it and you have to be holding the clutch for a little while if i change gears it works fine. for example i was coming to a stop light and i was holding the clutch in as i came to the light then the transfercase sliped into nutera. o yea the shifter inside doesnt move at all (the shifter for the 4x4) any help would be great

Is that linkage adjustable? Sounds to me like it needs to be adjusted. It is in a bit of a bind and is pulling itself into neutral.

Did that thing work alright before you did the clutch? Here is what I am thinking, there is no reason for anything to be wrong with the case, if it was working before, so, something must be different after you installed the clutch, and put it all together again.
The shifter is attatched to the body, and the trans, and case is attatched to the frame, so is it possiblle that something went together wrong that would have changed the distance between the mounting points?
Could you have bent the linkage while you were ******* up the trans?
How about the trans mount? Is it broken allowing the case to lift, or move around when you depress, or release the clutch? How about the mmount itself, could it be installed backwards, and now the case is too high, or low. Maybe the mount is loose, have you tried that?
I am running lout of stuff here.....
