there are 2 different input shaft options for the G.M. NP208
I believe that the autos have 27 spline inputs. Thos are the small autos like the 700, and the 350.
The 400, and the SM 465 units had 32 splines. Obviously the 32 spline unit is the stronger one. As far as the bolt patern, they all had a 6 bolt round pattern. The Chevy pattern is almost symetrical, but it is not. Not that that is important, but you might want to know.
Guess all of the adapters are the same, so you may want to verify the spline count on the input shaft, or you will be taking the cases apart to install the right one.

The input splines are probably the most important part. If it does not engage the splines from the output shaft it won't fit. It is a fair amount of work to change the input shaft, and different output shafts from the trans are only availabe aftermarket, and as expensive as a used case with the right shaft.
To answer your question; no the case does not care whether or not an automatic is in front of it, or a manual. It is just a 2 speed range box with an output shaft for the front differential.
