abs activation at low speed after hub replacement

I have a 2000 gmc sierra. I just replaced both front hub bearings. Now when I am braking the abs activates when I am almost stopped causing the truck to roll into intersections and such. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be. I have the same results with new and old wheel speed censors.

is the truck 2 wheel drive? you mentioned swapping speed sensors so i'm gonna guess 2 wheel. did you adjust the air gap properly. if you installed the sensor to close to the tone ring then it will assume the front tires are spinning faster than the rears and will activate the ABS system when you try to stop. you will need some non-metallic feeler gages and the owners manual to set the correct gap.

our wheel

it is four wheel drive. and my manual says nothing of adjusting the air gap. and i see no way to get a feeler gauge insid of the hub bearing assembly.

also the new hub assemblies came with the wheel speed sensors already installed.

well, i guess that made my post useless than. 4 wheel drive speed sensors are non-adjustable thats why when you mentioned swapping sensors i figured 2 wheel drive, although i'm not sure if that is true on the newer trucks.

do you have any brake lights lit on your dash? i would pull the ABS maxi fuse under the hood and take the truck for a drive and see if it still acts up, if so the ABS is most likely fine and it is the base brake system with the problem. then we can go from there.

are you sure the light is not blowen? remove a connection from one of the sensors and start the truck, the computer should pick up on the lost connection right away. i'll check some of my books some more.
